CAFG Sponsors Free Webinar on the Rules of Expert Testimony

The Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy (CAFG) is pleased to announce the third of four webinars for forensic genealogists and the genealogical community at large. On September 12th at 7:30pm, CAFG will present Judy Russellā€™s webinar The Rules of Expert Testimony.

Forensic genealogy isn’t all research and report-writing. On occasion, the genealogist has to take the witness stand and explain to a court just what was found — and to do so, becomes an expert witness. Just what does that mean? What makes an expert an expert in court, and what can the genealogist expect before, during and after testifying?

Judy G. Russell, The Legal GenealogistĀ®, is a genealogist with a law degree who provides expert guidance through the murky territory where law and family history intersect. An internationally known lecturer and award-winning writer, she holds credentials as a Certified Genealogist Ā® and Certified Genealogical Lecturerā„  from the Board for Certification of GenealogistsĀ®.

The Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy (CAFG) is a professional business league
dedicated to advancing public awareness and understanding of the Forensic Genealogy profession while
promoting and maintaining high standards of professional and ethical conduct. CAFG encourages best
practices in client services and promotes the interchange of information among members through
electronic forums, meetings and seminars, and trade publications.
