The instructors for the Forensic Genealogy Institute have a combination of more than 70 years experience in the field and its ally specialties. When they started their careers, there were few if any classes, courses, e-mail forums, organizations, or Institutes dealing with the subject. The instructors mostly learned the hard way, from that proverbial school of hard knocks.
The “Foundations in Forensic Genealogy” track presents a comprehensive course of study covering research techniques, methodology, business preparations, business forms and contracts, actual work products, legal and ethical courses with case studies, and much more. The new advanced track is designed to present a new set of challenges and instructions each session. This year’s “Advanced Forensic Evidence Analysis” will include instruction found nowhere else concerning allied and sub-specialty fields to aid the forensic genealogist. Both these tracks are designed as learning opportunities for those already experienced in the field, as well as the professional considering accepting forensic cases. The very reasonable costs of these sessions could help arm us to avoid hundreds or perhaps thousands of dollars in costly mistakes in our professional practice.
