 ForensicGenealogistCredentialed (FGCSM) awarded to Wanda I. Smith

CAFG logo v5 greyBigThe Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy (CAFG) is pleased to award the ForensicGenealogistCredentialedSM (FGCSM) designation to the following individual:

Wanda I. Smith, FGCSM, of Plano, Texas. Mrs. Smith is a VP of the Land Department of Chestnut Exploration and Exploration, Inc., where a large part of her job involves solving chain-of-title issues, deed platting, and finding lost and missing mineral heirs.  She is also an attorney and the owner of Wanda Smith Law, PLLC, and a professional genealogist and owner of Professional Ancestry Research, LLC.  She is a magna cum laude graduate of Texas Womans University, and holds an M.A. in Political Science from the Univeristy of Arkansas and a J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law, at Fayetteville.  She is licensed to practice law in both Arkansas and Texas.

Among many other genealogical courses, Ms. Smith has attended CAFG’s Forensic Genealogy Institute annually since its first year and completed Boston University’s Certificate in Genealogical Research with a grade of A.  She serves on the Board of the Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy and the Collin County Genealogical Society and is a member of APG.  She also performs pro bono legal work for the Dallas Attorney Volunteer Program and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas as well as serving as President of her Sunday school class at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano.  She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, and the Texas Center for Legal Ethics as well as many other professional organizations.
