CAFG welcomes Sheila Benedict, our newest Associate level member from Solvang, California.
Sheila is a full time, professional legal, historical, and genealogical researcher and lecturer. She has been a researcher for twenty-five years, a life member and past board member of the National Genealogical Society, past board member and current member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and past President of the California Genealogical Alliance. She is a life member of the Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society. She has been a presenter at NGS and FGS conferences and currently works part-time as the archivist for one of the twenty-one historic California Missions.
She has a B.A. Political Science, French Minor, Master’s classes in history and humanities; also studied Paralegal research and Spanish. She has completed NIGR, IGHR and NGS programs. Sheila has taught beginning and intermediate genealogy and oral history at a local community college. She will be attending the Forensic Genealogy Institute in Dallas, TX this March and hopes to expand her forensic, legal research skills.
